Prefix & suffix when dialling another country

To call a number abroad you replace the leading national prefix (often a 0) with the country code, and start the call with your own country's exit code — or simply use + on a mobile, which works everywhere.

The simple rule

+ country code + number without its leading 0

Example: an Indian number written 020 1234 5678 is dialled from anywhere as +91 20 1234 5678.

Short emergency numbers such as 100, 999, 911 or 112 only work inside that country. From abroad, call the organisation's full international number instead.
